Please join 猫咪社区 for the Opening Reception of "Between Seeing & Painting", featuring oil paintings and drawings by Professor Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo. The event will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM in the Presidential Gallery located on the 3rd Floor of the Administration Building.
"Between Seeing & Painting" explores the transformative act of direct observation and how lived experience becomes something new through artistic interpretation.
The exhibition brings together oil paintings on copper and linen alongside drawings that celebrate the power of light, revealing beauty in ordinary objects, quiet moments, and the changing colors of the natural world.
Rooted in direct observation, each work begins with a lived encounter. Through oil paint and charcoal, these moments move beyond mere representation to become meditations on perception, atmosphere, color, and the passage of time.
Light serves as both subject and storyteller. It reveals the subtle beauty of everyday objects, illuminates unexpected relationships between color and form, and animates the natural world's changing character. Shadows play an equally vital role, creating depth, mystery, and moments of discovery.
