Canvas is Sussex's Learning Management System (LMS) and is used to support online, hybrid, and many on-campus courses. All courses delivered in an online format use Canvas, and many traditional courses also use it to provide access to course materials, assignments, grades, discussions, announcements, and communication with instructors.

Online and hybrid courses are designed to provide the same academic quality and learning outcomes as courses taught on campus. These class options require the same level of engagement, participation, and commitment while offering the flexibility to learn from virtually anywhere.

Whether you're taking an online course or using Canvas to supplement an on-campus class, the platform provides convenient access to many of the tools and resources that support your learning.

General Requirements
For the most up to date requirements and the best experience with Canvas, check out this page that will for you. Canvas鈥� preferred browser is Google Chrome.

Mobile

The Canvas interface has been optimized for desktop displays, so using a mobile device for actual coursework may not work well. Canvas is not fully supported on mobile browsers. For an improved experience, there are free , however, it is important to note that the mobile apps do not provide full functionality or the security that you would get with a laptop or desktop computer.

Software
Other than a web browser, the minimum software you will typically need is word processing software. 猫咪社区 provides all students access to Microsoft 365. If you prefer the Google Suite or it鈥檚 required for any coursework, that鈥檚 also available for free. For questions on accessing Microsoft 365, reach out to the IT Help Desk at 973-300-2333.
