The Center for Lifelong Learning offers additional programs

猫咪社区鈥檚 Center for Lifelong Learning, in partnership with Senior Services of Sussex County, is hosting a series of special events for seniors. Participants can enjoy a variety of engaging lectures from tips on financial wellness to protecting themselves from scams鈥攁ll designed for seniors looking to expand their knowledge and stay connected to their community.

        Financially Fit at Any Age:  Let's talk about financial health! Join SCCC Business Professors Sal Paolucci and Jason Petecca for a free session on budgeting, investing, tax tips, and making smart financial choices. Bring your questions鈥攖his is a safe space to talk money! Attend this Free event on Thursday, October 30 at 3:00 PM in the Atrium of the SCCC Performing Arts Center. Light refreshments will be served.

        Arbor Luncheon and 鈥淗arvey鈥 Matinee: Join us for this charming comedy about Elwood P. Dowd and his invisible six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit friend, Harvey. This is the third time the College is offering the special lunch and show, highlighting the Arbor Restaurant, at the SCCC Culinary Arts Institute in Newton. Guests arrive at The Culinary Institute at 11:30 am to be seated for lunch which will be served at 12 pm sharp. Lunch will be finished by 1:30 pm and then guests will go to the main campus for the matinee which will begin at 2 pm. Seating is limited for the luncheon. $45 includes the $10 ticket to Harvey. Social media sites and online journalism have changed the platform for news and media, leaving its viewers guessing if what they see, read, and hear is credible and reliable. Join the discussion on the pros and cons of social media and online platforms, learn what news is real and what may be fake, and explore how to check if content is accurate. Tuesday, November 11 from 11:00 AM 鈥 12:00 PM on the SCCC Campus in the Media Center (Building V) MC02. Free to attend.

        Open Computer Lab: Enhance your digital skills at our Open Computer Labs, available Friday, November 14 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. No registration is required; simply drop in Health Sciences and Performing Arts Building, Room A317 and practice with the support of our tech-savvy student assistants.

        How to Spot Scammers: Millions fall victim to scams every year. Learn how to protect yourself with practical tips from SCCC students Jalissa Godinez and Sophia Gomes, knowledgeable in Law and Public Safety. Enjoy an interactive session with handouts, games, and advice on safeguarding your devices on Thursday, November 13 at 3:00 PM in the Atrium, SCCC Performing Arts Center. The cost is FREE with light refreshments being served.
