猫咪社区 (SCCC) offers a tuition-free pathway for individuals seeking to earn their New Jersey High School Diploma through its High School Equivalency (HSE) program.
The HSE program provides free instruction to help students build essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, along with coursework in science and social studies. These classes prepare students to take the New Jersey High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) and earn a state-issued high school diploma. Graduates of the program can confidently pursue college, postsecondary training, or improved employment opportunities.
鈥淥ur HSE Program is flexible, friendly, and fun,鈥 said Program Coordinator Sara Gorst. 鈥淪tudents work independently on the areas where they need the most support, with experienced instructors available to help every step of the way. Students who demonstrate proficiency on the HiSET practice tests are encouraged to register for the official exam at Sussex to earn their New Jersey State Diploma.鈥
ABE/HSE program classes begin on March 16 and April 20, 2026, and are held in the Student Center (D Building), Room D304. Registration is available by appointment only. Students must be at least 16 years of age to enroll. Applicants who are 16 or 17 years old must provide signed parental or guardian consent. Individuals ages 16 to 21 must also complete a 鈥淐onsent of Non-Enrollment in School鈥 form, available through the program.
To schedule a registration appointment, visit sussex.edu/hse, call (973) 300-2158, or email [email protected].
Out-of-state residents may enroll in classes at SCCC; however, they must complete the official HSE exam in their state of residence.
The program is funded by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and is offered at no cost to participants.
Interested students are encouraged to complete the online registration form to be added to the waitlist for ABE/HSE classes at 猫咪社区.
