As the demand for Registered Nurses continues to rise, èßäÉçÇø (SCCC) is helping meet the region’s healthcare workforce needs through its ongoing partnership with Passaic County Community College.
The collaborative nursing program allows students to complete a rigorous, high-quality nursing education locally, expanding access to this critical profession within Sussex County.
On Tuesday, January 13, SCCC celebrated the accomplishments of 16 nursing graduates during a formal pinning ceremony held at 6 p.m. The event featured an awards presentation, a candlelight ceremony, and the recitation of the International Council of Nurses Pledge. Remarks were delivered by Dr. Cory Homer, President of SCCC; Dr. Steven Rose, President of PCCC; college administrators from both institutions, and guest speaker Kimberly Rochette, MSN RN, who recognized the graduates’ dedication and commitment to patient care.
Following graduation, students will complete their final requirement—the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)—to earn licensure as Registered Nurses and begin their professional careers in healthcare.

In this innovative program, qualified students admitted to the Passaic County Community College Nurse Education Program, offered in conjunction with SCCC, take clinical courses with PCCC on the SCCC campus. These clinical courses comprise a four-semester sequence, which begins each January and is designed to include both general education and nursing courses for students who have selected careers as registered nurses. General education courses in the sciences and liberal arts enhance students' understanding of clients with acute and chronic health problems. The curriculum prepares students to practice in hospitals and health agencies within the American Nurses Association’s Standards of Practice framework and the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act.
