SCCC Earns Reaccreditation through 2034

7/8/2026 12:00:00 PM

猫咪社区 (SCCC) is proud to announce that it has been granted reaffirmation of accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) through 2034, following a comprehensive 18-month self-study and peer review process involving every area of the College.

The reaffirmation recognizes that 猫咪社区 continues to meet the Commission's rigorous Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation, demonstrating the College's commitment to academic excellence, institutional effectiveness, student success, and continuous improvement.

Accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is one of the most important indicators of institutional quality in higher education. It assures students, families, employers, and the public that the College meets nationally recognized standards for educational quality, governance, financial sustainability, assessment, and student support. Accreditation also enables students to access federal financial aid, facilitates the transfer of academic credits, and affirms the value of degrees earned at the institution.

The reaffirmation follows an extensive 18-month self-study process that examined every aspect of the College's operations. Faculty, staff, administrators, students, trustees, and community stakeholders participated in the evaluation of institutional performance against MSCHE's seven accreditation standards. The process included collecting and analyzing data, reviewing policies and procedures, assessing student learning outcomes, evaluating institutional planning and governance, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

The self-study culminated in a comprehensive institutional report that highlighted the College's accomplishments and identified priorities to guide future planning and strengthen student success. Earlier this year, a team of peer evaluators from colleges and universities across the region visited campus to validate the findings, meet with members of the College community, and assess the College's compliance with accreditation standards.

"This reaffirmation of accreditation is a tremendous achievement for 猫咪社区 and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit of our entire College community," said Dr. Cory Homer, President of SCCC. "Over the past 18 months, faculty, staff, administrators, students, and trustees devoted countless hours to honestly evaluating who we are, celebrating our successes, and identifying opportunities to become even stronger. Reaffirmation through 2034 confirms the quality of the education we provide and our unwavering commitment to serving the residents of Sussex County."

Dr. Homer emphasized that the accreditation process is not simply an evaluation, but an opportunity for institutional growth.

"One of the greatest strengths of the self-study process is that it challenges institutions to engage in meaningful reflection and continuous improvement. While we celebrate this important milestone, we also recognize that accreditation is an ongoing commitment. The recommendations and priorities identified through the process will help shape the College's strategic direction as we continue expanding academic programs, strengthening workforce partnerships, enhancing student support services, and responding to the evolving needs of our community."

The successful reaffirmation is the result of the extraordinary commitment of the College community. Numerous working groups, committees, and campus representatives collaborated throughout the process to gather evidence, analyze institutional performance, and prepare the self-study report. Their collective efforts demonstrated SCCC's culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

As the College looks toward the future, reaffirmation through 2034 provides a strong foundation for continued innovation and growth. SCCC remains focused on expanding educational opportunities, strengthening career and technical education, enhancing transfer pathways, and preparing students for success in an increasingly dynamic workforce.
