猫咪社区 (SCCC) proudly hosted the 57th Annual Sussex County Teen Arts Festival on Tuesday, March 10, welcoming more than 1,600 students and teachers from across the county for a day dedicated to creativity, learning, and artistic expression.

This year鈥檚 festival included participation from 22 schools and arts studios and featured an impressive display of artwork, 150 adjudicated student performances, and 40 hands-on workshops and demonstrations. Students explored a wide range of artistic disciplines, including poetry, prose, film, fine art, musical theater, instrumental music, and vocal music.
The festival鈥檚 success was supported by SCCC鈥檚 outstanding facilities, the efforts of its security and technical teams, and the commitment of faculty and volunteers who worked tirelessly to transform the campus into a lively center for artistic activity.

鈥淲e are incredibly proud to host an event that celebrates the immense talent of Sussex County鈥檚 young artists,鈥 said Anita Collins, Teen Arts Coordinator.  鈥淚t鈥檚 inspiring to see students explore their creativity and gain confidence in their artistic pursuits.鈥

SCCC extends its appreciation to the many college departments that contributed to the success of this event. SCCC Ambassadors, along with student volunteers from the fine arts, graphic design, theater, and performing arts programs, provided invaluable support throughout the day.

The festival made a lasting impression on both students and educators. Four schools attended for the first time, with teachers praising the beauty of the campus and students describing the experience as the 鈥渂est field trip ever.鈥

鈥淭he Teen Arts Festival gives students the opportunity to experience a wide range of artistic disciplines while also introducing them to potential career paths in the arts,鈥 said Nancy Gallo, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.

The celebration continued with a visual arts reception on Wednesday, March 11, in the art galleries on campus, where students proudly showcased their artwork to family and friends. The artwork will remain on display through Tuesday, March 24. Selected works and performances will go on to represent Sussex County at the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival at Middlesex College in June. Selections from the festival will be published in the 2026 edition of SCCC's Idiom & Image magazine.

The Sussex County Teen Arts Festival serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of the arts in education, inspiring students to pursue their passions and consider future careers in the arts. SCCC is honored to be a part of this tradition and looks forward to continuing its support of young artists in the community.

The Teen Arts Festival has been made possible through funding from SCCC, School Districts of Sussex County, and donations from individuals and businesses. Funding has been鈥痬ade available in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through the State/County Partnership Block Grant program, administered by the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council.
